I created these designs to help communicate the findings of the paper Explaining population booms and busts in Mid-Holocene Europe. I created this prototype with my team at the Visualizing Complexity Science Workshop at the Complexity Science Hub in Vienna, Austria. We also included other data visualizations that worked together with the illustrations to tell the story of the population dynamics of Mid-Holocene (Late Mesolithic to Initial Bronze Age, ca. 7000–3000 BCE) Europe.
